The Impeccable Pig Restaurant

I was gutted not to get a booking in time for The Impeccable Pig in Sedgefield over Teeside Restaurant week a couple of weeks ago, proof of how popular it is!  When I saw that they had extended their impeccable set menu for the foreseeable future, I booked a table straight away!

We popped along on Saturday for a late lunch and both agreed it was the best meal we’d had in a really long time.  To start Max had the pigs in blankets with rocket salad and honey & mustard dressing and I went for the whipped chicken liver parfait which came with plum chutney, curried granola & toasted brioche.  Both were so delicious and portion sizes were really decent!

For mains, Max went for the chicken and chorizo cassoulet with new potatoes, pickled fennel, peas and chilli while I chose the lamb and carrot hot pot with mashed potato and truffled green beans.  We also shared a side order of the truffle and parmesan fries.  I can’t fault the lamb at all, it melted in my mouth and fell off the fork, so beautifully tender and well presented too which makes a nice change from a normal hot pot!

We considered not getting dessert as we were stuffed by this point but a quick look at the menu confirmed that this would be a massive mistake and we promptly ordered the chocolate brownie with ganache & chocolate ice cream and the sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream & butterscotch sauce.  The sticky toffee pudding was huge and so deliciously warming for a cold wet day.  I also managed to nab a spoonful of Max’s brownie, so tasty and not too rich as you’d expect it might be with the ganache.

I cannot wait to go back to @theimpeccablepigrestaurant soon, it was a real treat of a meal, the staff were so friendly and everyone was following Covid precautions very thoroughly.  The decor is stunning with lots of natural light, olive trees and green velvet furnishings and it wasn’t too busy for a weekend.  The set menu is £15 for 2 courses and £17 for 3 courses but just be aware that there are quite a few items on the set menu that incur a supplement charge (pigs in blankets were an extra £3.50 and the sticky toffee pudding an extra £3).  Totally worth it though! Their set menu changes fairly often, even while writing this they have a different bunch of options on their website, even more the reason to go back again this weekend!
